Imation Demonstrates Data Archiving Capabilities of Travan-4 Technology at Seybold

Travan-4 Promotion with Imation and MicroNet Announced

Oakdale, Minn. (April 22, 1997) -- Imation Corp. (NYSE: IMN), the imaging and information company recently spun-off from 3M, today announced a promotion with MicroNet for visitors to Imation's booth (#2215) at the upcoming Seybold Seminars New York Exposition. Visitors will be able to obtain a $20 rebate coupon applicable to Travan-4 drives purchased from MicroNet for use with their DataDock storage solution. DataDock's flexible and scaleable design enhances workflow in digital imaging environments.

Customers receiving the rebate will also receive a free Travan-4 minicartridge from Imation. The announcement comes as Imation prepares to open its exhibition at the Seybold show, which opens Wednesday and runs through April 25. The coupon will also be available at MicroNet's booth (#2251).

Imation manufactures and markets 3M-brand Travan minicartridges, for which it holds a proprietary position. Imation currently licenses ten companies to manufacture products based on Travan technology.

"Travan minicartridge technology has been one of the most successful data storage platforms to be introduced within recent years, with more than five million drives sold to date," said David Sewall, director, Storage Solutions, Imation. "Imation intends to pursue the printing and publishing market aggressively with Travan solutions, including an upcoming advertising campaign aimed at this market."

Other manufacturers that offer Travan-4 drives or have announced plans to do so include Hewlett-Packard, Seagate, Exabyte, AIWA, Tecmar, and various drive integrators.

"The Travan-4 platform, with a SCSI interface, offers users in the printing industry the reliability, performance and capacity that they need to archive data in the demanding environments in which they work," added Sewall. "Travan technology also offers users an alternative to DDS products, and we're anxious to demonstrate this powerful solution to our customers at Seybold."

Imation's 3M-brand Travan-4 Minicartridge holds 8GB of compressed data on a single piece of media. It is available via Imation's worldwide network of authorized distributors at a suggested list price of $49.95 (distributor prices may vary).

Based in Irvine, Calif., MicroNet Technology, Inc. is a leader in the development of a full range of data storage solutions for Enterprise wide networks, Windows, Windows NT, IBM PC and compatibles, and Macintosh with PCI, ISA, EISA, Micro Channel or Local Bus Architectures, as well as Silicon Graphics workstations.
